- Unpack the machine and check for all the parts, such as a portafilter, tamper, frothing pitcher, and accessories. Familiarize yourself with the machine by reading the instruction manual.
- Rinse the machine by filling the water tank with fresh water and running it for a few minutes to remove any dust or debris accumulated during shipping.
- Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water after rinsing the machine. Most machines have removable water tanks that can be filled at the sink.
- Preheat the machine for at least 15-20 minutes to ensure optimal brewing temperature. Check the user manual for a chart indicating the temperature setting to reach the desired temperature on the brew head. The machine should brew at 9 bar and steam pressure at 2 bar, but some people use a different pressure setup for different beans or prefer higher temperatures for lighter roasts to extract more flavor. ( I brew light roast with a longer time at 96 °C )
Here is what my user manual look like.
